(FYI: My father’s taken a turn for the worse. Intensive care, life support. The news looks bad. I don’t know if he’ll make it through the next few days. This blog is not a priority, but it can be cathartic. I don’t suspect I’ll be a barrell of laughs for a bit.)

Sorry to hear about you dad. I’m thinking of you and keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.

    Hey, everyone–

    Thanks for the well-wishing.

I’m hanging in there. Dad’s stable in intensive care. His previously almost-gangrenous leg is healing. He’s no longer on a respirator, though he’s still taking oxygen. His heartbeat is irregular, which is a concern, but not surprising.

There is the possibility that a pocket of infection is hiding in him. Due to his morbid obesity (nearly 400lbs) he can’t get a proper MRI scan, so more testing is to be done today, as well as scans and such. They may need to operate, in which case he will emerge from that on full life support. I hope no surgery is needed.

I’m having to work at my job, sadly, because I have no sick time, no slush fund, and no ability to take the time to be there. His wife is by his side, though, and I’m getting updated often.

So, today, he’s stable. I hope that continues. I plan to go in tomorrow night, possibly, and see him. Definitely by saturday.

Anyhow. Thank you. Keep positive vibes going. I think it’s helping.

    -steff.
