Hey, Look! An Election!

As Canadians, most of the people I know were obsessed with the voting returns last night. I applaud the new Democratic House and I’m curious to see what the next couple years will be like. I’m also happy to see a female Speaker of the House. Wow. There’s a neat change in the U.S. Go, Nancy.

As for my father, ICU seems to be the perfect place for him. He’s slowly improving. Had some colour yesterday, and even though he was too weak to communicate much, he had a ferocious grip in his hands and squeezed my brother’s and my hands and looked on us with great affection that still makes me smile now. Who says you need words to know you’re loved? I’ll know more later this week, but I’m optimistic he’ll get past this and I can return to being a happy Steff. Stay tuned.

    Hi Steff.
From the lower 48, God be with you and all of your family.
Will say a prayer for him.

    Hey Steff,

I’m so happy that you’re father is doing better. My best thoughts to you and him.

The election was great for my country, but my favorite candidate sadly didn’t win. I posted a tribute to him.

as a fellow canuck, i have to say that i’m curious to see what happens in the lower 48….

sometimes, time spent in the icu can be a good way for people to get a little perspective, and see what really matters most in their lives. take care.

And the Senate goes to the Dems.

I think life will get very interesting for George over the next two years.

The blogs are already saying Poppa Bush is taking over behind the scenes to try and salvage the kid’s administration.

Rummy was the first of many to come, and Cheney will prolly be next.

    Hey Steff:

I am SO SO happy (yes, even ESTATIC!)

    My new mantra is
    TORTURE equals TREASON

or look here for a commentary on Maureen Dowd’s commentary in today’s NY Times

or HERE regarding the fact that he needed to wake up and smell the (urine) on his desk!

    Go DEMS.
I say IMPEACH Tricky Dicky Veepy but in reality, we need to MOVE on
    and do the following:
    * RAISE Minimum Wage
    * REPEAL the BUSH ENERGY policy
    * GET NATIONALIZED HEALTH CARE FINALLY!
*and if possibly, fix social security!

    That’s it!

    Ryan!

Or more succinctly, the Ryan I had a nice date with but that nothing materialized with Ryan? Ha.

I was just thinking about you the other day, wondering how life was treating you, as I’ve finally gotten a useful version of MSN on this beastly computer.

I need a new concert friend. Wanna volunteer? Huh? C’mon.

I was almost wishing I was going to the Primus gig this month, but I think it’s rich for my blood.

Ah well. Still, concert friend needed. Married-with-kid concert friend has a shitty curfew and is no longer the fun he used to be. (Sorry, Whipped Boy. You know it’s true!!)

    -steff.
