Being Stupid: Oh, for a Corkscrew…

When to feel like a moron:
You’ve bought a great bottle of wine. After you’ve looked for the corkscrew for 10 minutes, start trying to peel the cover off, in prep for removing the cork, you notice it’s a screw-top cap.
Duh. I think I’ll unscrew this now…

Ahaha. Nooooooo. I love drinking from a nice big goblet. ๐Ÿ™‚

It’s part of the experience. But thanks for the snicker-snort. That was good for a big chuckle!

“Note to self: There’s always the option of drinking from the bottle.”

*chuckles* I’ve done worse. I vividly recall spending maybe thirty seconds looking around for a pen that was in my hand.

You should be thankful that it wasn’t a corked bottle of wine.
And that the cork didn’t break off in the bottle and you ended up needing to push it into the bottle to get the wine out. Then you’d have all those little cork pieces floating in your nice glass of wine because you tried in vain to dismantle the cork before doing so…

As for pens, I never find them even when they are perched on my ear.

CJ — Yeah, I hear ya. I’m stunned at the truism of “wait till you’re 30” though because the stupid shit I do just seems to escalate after each passing year. It’s annoying — Like putting the coffee creamo in the pantry or the cereal in the fridge or car keys in utilities drawer.

I’d rather tell myself it’s because I smoke pot than because I’m “over 30” though, so let’s pretend that’s the case. I don’t want to stop smokign the dope, though, because then I’ll have no excuse. Ha!

But, yes, the stupid stuff happens a little too often for comfort these days.

Anon — I’ve never had to poke a cork through in all my time. I’ve always been able to get the broken corks out, just by being patient and going slow.

Unlike a lot of wine snobs, though, I celebrate the arrival of the screwcap… makes drinking for picnics, etc, so much simpler, and it’s been a long time since I’ve had a bottle be spoiled on me. ๐Ÿ™‚
