Revolutions Start Like a Whisper

Revolutions Start Like a Whisper

There’s a shock and awe to the news lately that’s terrifying, and that’s by design. It’s shock, awe, and intimidation writ large. It’s to dumb you into submission and hopelessness.

Also terrifying is the silence that seems to be greeting the advance of autocracy in America.

But it is wrong to assume it means nothing is happening in the resistance.

For decades, Ireland lived under The Troubles. Bombings, nearly flat-out civil war, and so much terror was just a way of life. But the resistance knew what they were fighting for: A homeland free of colonizers.

Throughout Ireland, bars all had a similar sign on the walls: Loose talk costs lives.

Shut the fuck up, lest ye be the one whose words get a buddy arrested or stymie an attack, basically.

People want louder voices, more social leaders coming out and saying Donald Trump is a Bad Man doing Bad Things.

We live in an era that has stupidly been informed by reality TV, influencers, and people who sport a mind-boggling amount of demonstrative bravado (but not so much wisdom).

These people are not who you want in a revolution. They need to sit down and get out of the way.

Because what does shouting about the laws and ethics being broken accomplish, really?

You think Donald Trump and his buddies don’t know they’re breaking the law? You think they’ll go “Oh, my bad, apologies! We’ll sort that out right away!”

The reality is, they’ve already fired the generals they know aren’t loyal. They’re firing everyone who isn’t loyal. Trump has said there are no laws he can break if he’s “saving the country,” which is god-like and terrifying. The Supreme Court has already given the President immunity.

I’m sure you’re familiar with a lot of social activists who’ve always had important things to share and say online, and they’ve just… stopped posting. As an extremely-online person, you’re probably outraged they’re not using their “voice.”

As someone who has always believed in the power of being online: They would be idiots to be vocal right now, because, frankly, posting accomplishes nothing but putting a target on their back.

Organizing happens quietly. It’s backroom stuff. Secret whispers, hushed planning. It’s done in quiet, because that’s how victories come.

It’s terrifying to not see it happening, but it’ll also be terrifying once those resistance movements gain speed.

The reality is the people in the resistance understand that the goals of Steve Bannon, Elon Musk, Peter Thiel, and all the others who are orchestrating this chaos is that they want to collapse the American dollar, collapse the economy, force total revolution, so they can rebuild society into a technocracy.

So, they want violence in the streets.

Luckily there are a lot of smart people who know to shut the fuck up and do the quiet work of organizing. Want to feel more meaningful? Get involved in the local community, help people near you, and keep the faith in the revolution.

I think it will be a long, violent summer in America, but I think we’ve seen nothing yet.

Don’t think the silence means people aren’t working.

Instead, believe in the calm before the storm.
Be the calm before the storm.
Then, be the storm.

Here’s the song of 2025.
